Meet our Interim Manager, Jessica Blake!
Jessica has been a valued member of the Seed Lab since 2008, when she began as a student in the germination lab during her time as an undergraduate at Iowa State University. She received her Bachelor of Biology with an emphasis in botany in 2010, and soon after was hired full time. As of 2013, she obtained the title of Registered Seed Technologist and has worked in various areas of the seed lab. Her favorite aspect of her job is the ability to use the knowledge gained from her degree in real-world application, as well as being able to constantly learn new information about all things seeds. As she settles into her new role, she looks forward to continuing the current success of the seed lab, while also pushing to grow in other facets. One of her goals for the lab is to increase the digital accessibility and accuracy of customer information. When she’s not at the seed lab, you can find her running around with her 3- and 6-year-old daughters, and identifying and collecting the plethora of seeds they bring her.

For more than 100 years, the Seed Lab and the Seed Science Center at Iowa State University have provided training for seed industry professionals by hosting short courses and workshops. Join us this April through August!
