Seed Testing Price Increase Effective August 1, 2025
As announced in our last newsletter, we will soon be implementing price adjustments for services provided by the Seed Laboratory. This marks the first price adjustment since October 2022 and is necessary due to the rising costs of reagents and supplies, both locally and internationally.
All samples received in our Customer Care office by 3:00 pm CSDT on July 31, will be processed with the current pricing. Any samples received after 3:00 pm, will be processed on August 1 with the updated pricing.

Sending Testing Samples for Cover Crops
As you begin submitting cover crop samples to the Seed Lab, be sure to include the month and year of harvest on each sample. This small detail helps us determine whether prechilling is needed—saving you time and helping ensure accurate results.
If you’re using our cover crop sample bags, they double as submission forms and include a quick guide to common tests. Don’t have bags? We’ll send you 10 for free—just email us at seedlab@iastate.edu.

Seed Health Testing Sample – Processing Delay
Some of our Seed Health team members will be attending the American Phytopathological Society Conference from August 2–5, which may cause processing delays during that time. All samples will be processed in the order received as quickly as possible once staff return.
Thank you for your understanding as we support our team’s professional development!
